Daily Rate Docs
Introduction
Daily Rate is a cloud platform that connects tradesmen with students looking to improve their skill and develop a long lasting career.
-
Students offer their services and list the skills that they are training in.
-
Tradesmen can search for students that meet their criteria for work experience positions, including:
-
Distance to job
-
Student skill sets
With each job completed, students:
-
Build up evidence of their work that can later be used as proof of skill for future apprenticeship positions and job openings.
-
Earn points which can be used to get vouchers for tools, kits, and other useful assets.

Dashboard
The Dashboard tab shows the main highlights of your day and any news updates. As more features are added, this page will also be improved, showing you tips, tricks, and even users who may be of use to your career as a tradesman.
The three main views are Today’s Job, Tomorrow’s Job, and Latest Updates. The two job views will show you if there is a job on that day, and will also provide a Google Maps link to the address of that job, so you can quickly add it to your sat nav.
Profile
On the main dashboard page, you can update your profile details by clicking the profile icon in the menu bar, make changes to the specific details boxes, and then click the update button to submit these profile changes.
Skills can also be updated by selecting new skills in the skills drop down box, and selected skills can be removed by clicking their respective icon. To apply the changes to the skills, click the Update Skills button below the skill section.
All profiles have a profile image (avatar), and this can be changed by clicking Update Avatar, clicking the Choose File button, and then clicking Submit Image. Images here can also be cropped and rotated by using the interactive cropper as well as the two 90 degree rotation buttons.

Days can be made unavailable by clicking an empty day, and days that are shown as unavailable will be in red. In order to save these changes, click Update Calendar underneath the calendar.

Click Update Calendar to save
Student Bookings
The Bookings tab shows you all your upcoming bookings. A booking can be clicked, and the booking page will be show, which will show you more details including the bookers name, date, location, and description of the booking. If needed, you can cancel a booking by clicking Cancel on the appropriate booking entry.
Once a booking has been completed and marked done by the tradesman, the booking will be removed from the booking tab, and instead, move to the Work Diary where you can add notes about the day.
Students Work Diary
The Work Diary tab shows you all your historic bookings that have been marked complete by each tradesman that ordered the work. Each of these bookings can have their Work Log updated, which is a critical task that you need to complete.
The reason for the importance of the Work Diary is that this can be used as evidence when applying for future jobs and apprenticeships, and making comments on the work that you have done for each day creates a professional timeline of your development. It’s a good idea to mention what you did, mistakes you made, lessons you learned, and what you enjoyed about the work.
To update the log:
-
Under bookings, click Log and enter your log details.
-
Or, view the booking by clicking the booking entry, and then click "Work Log".
Tips
🧠 Best to update it right after the work is done.
⚠️ Tradesmen may view and challenge the log contents.
Student Network
The Student Network tab is how tradesmen can find students who are looking for work experience, and the search is very simple. Two key details are required for a search; the required skill, and the job postcode.
With the skill and postcode set, you can perform a search by clicking SEARCH, and a list of matching students will be shown. Each row in the search can be clicked, and the students profile will be shown.
On the students profile, you can view their calendar and make bookings. To make a booking, first select the skill that you are looking for (just above the students calendar), and then click the days you need them for. Once selected, click BOOK NOW, and you will be presented with a window asking for details about the job. Fill in your job details, and click BOOK NOW, and if successful, you will see a notification at the top of the window in green letting you know that the booking succeeded.
To cancel bookings, you have to go to your Bookings tab, find the booking you want to cancel, and then click Cancel.

Tradesman Bookings
The Bookings tab shows you all your upcoming bookings. Days which have already gone by, have been canceled, or marked as done will not show in this list.
Once a booking has been completed by a student, you must click Mark Done, as this allows the student to log their day as well as gain points that help fund their future equipment and career as a tradesman. If a student doesn’t turn up to a booking, it is essential that you click Report Absence on the day of the booking before midnight, otherwise you will be charged for that day.
If a booking is no longer needed (before the day of the booking), you can cancel by clicking Cancel on the appropriate booking entry.
Actions:
-
Mark Done after completion so the student receives points.
-
Report Absence if a student doesn’t show up (before midnight).
-
Cancel future bookings if not required.
Payment Details (Tradesmen Only)
Payment details are needed for trademen only, and they can be updated by first clicking the payment icon in the menu, and then clicking Setup Banking Details. In the window that appears, enter your preferred payment method, and then click Save Payment Method. Once done, this will be saved automatically, and all Daily Rate usage will be billed at the last day of each month.
Only bookings that have been completed are charged, and bookings are automatically marked as being done once they are in the past. This also means that bookings that go ignored are charged, so if a booking is no longer required, you must cancel it before the booking date.
If a student doesn’t attend a booking, you must report their absence on the day, and if a student does turn up for work experience, you must not cancel the booking, otherwise you will risk losing your account, and students cannot obtain points for those days (nor can they log their work experience).
Actions:
Add / Update Banking Details
-
Click the Payments icon
-
Click Setup Banking Details
-
Enter your preferred method and click Save Payment Method
Notes:
-
Only completed bookings are charged.
-
Ignored bookings still get charged.
-
Cancel bookings before the scheduled date to avoid charges.
-
Report student absences the same day if they don’t show.
-
If a student does show up, do not cancel — or you may risk your account and prevent the student from logging hours or earning points.
